Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring with me?

If you have a Yoga mat please bring it with you, but I do have spare mats if you need to borrow one.

No special shoes required as yoga is practiced bare foot (prevents slipping)

You may want to bring a blanket/small pillow for relaxation at the end.

I have a medical problem...

Yoga has been found to beneficial for many various medical problems, from mental health issues to lower back problems. However, I am not a medical professional, so if you have any concerns as to whether the yoga classes would be suitable for you. Please first check with your GP as they will be more aware of what is suitable for your condition.

I have trouble kneeling on the floor will this class be suitable for me?

You may need to bring a blanket  for extra padding under the knees, the classes do involve a lot of kneeling and getting up and down off the floor, if this sounds unsuitable I also offer a seated yoga class in Maesteg (see class timetable for details)

How do I know if a class has been cancelled?

On the Contact page there are links to both the Twitter and Facebook pages. These pages are constantly updated in regards to updates and cancellations.

Do I need to book?

All classes are drop in so no need to book, just drop in when you can!

I am a complete beginner can I attend?

Yes, you are more than welcome to come along, I offer modifications and variations to poses so that you work with the body, not against it.

I'm not very flexible

Flexibility is something that you gain from practicing yoga, it is not a requirement to start!

What clothing should I wear?

Wear something loose fitting and comfortable, for example t-shirt, leggings/jogging bottoms. You want to be able to move freely and not feel restricted.

Can I bring my child along?

Unfortunately I do not allow children to attend any of my yoga classes as they are not suitable for children.

Will Yoga help with anxiety/Insomnia/depression etc....?

Yoga has been found to be helpful for these conditions, as yoga teaches being in the present, and the various breathing techniques are helpful for quieting a busy mind. Along with the physical practice and relaxation, many people find it helpful for relieving symptoms of stress and anxiety.

I'm pregnant can I attend?

The classes that I teach are not geared towards pregnancy, therefore there will be many poses that are not suitable for pregnancy. If you are pregnant and are looking for yoga classes, there are specific Pregnancy classes available from other teachers, details of teachers can be found here.

What If I have just given birth?

The classes that I teach are not specifically for those who have just given birth so specific post natal classes may be more suitable (dependent on how long since given birth).
